Description
Pharmacology and mechanism of effect:
Tribulus has many pharmacological properties due to its various compositional materials. The flavonoids present in the plant have anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, delayed growth of the tumor, and have the protective effect of vascular and antitrombic and the protective effect of gastrointestinal mucosa. In addition, a group of flavonoids in the plant interrupts phospholipase enzymes, especially phospholipase C. Flavonoids in Tribulus, by producing a strong antioxidant effect on microsomal systems, increase the toxicity effects of some carcinogenic and free radicals.
Hormonal steroidal saponins also have an effect on the pharmacological effects of this plant and show different biological effects, most notably hormonal effects. Steroids Saponins of Hechorin and Chitohonin play a very important role in the development of steroids as a precursor of steroid hormones. The salts in extract, including potassium, also play a major role in the plant’s biological properties. Tribulus has been studied on oxalate metabolism in rats, and it has been shown that feeding sodium glycolate in rats increased uric acid excretion and increased activity of oxalate synthase enzymes. These enzymes include glycollate oxidase, glycollate dehydrogenase and lactate dehydrogenase. In addition, Tribulus extract is effective in the treatment of coronary artery disease, because it causes coronary artery dilatation.
